Sri Lanka’s Pekoe Trail is a 300km+ walking trail traversing the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. It is made up of 22 stages, which can be completed in short sections, or as part of a multi-day experience taking visitors through an eclectic mix of hill towns, tea plantations, remote villages, sanctuaries, viewpoints, forests, and cultural and historical locations. The interconnecting trail demonstrates the island’s diversity, encourages sustainable travel and brings economic opportunity to rural communities in order to promote a more holistic traveller experience that embraces adventure, nature, wellness, and sustainability.
Our hotels located in and around the Central Highlands work really well for those looking to experience this immersive trail. These include Camellia Hills (close to stages 6 to 9), Nine Skies (near stages 15, 16 & 17) and Goatfell (within reach of stages 21 and 22). The stages can be walked independently (most are a leisurely hike), though active clients could also look to combine two stages in a day if time permits.
