Camellia Hills, Castlereagh Reservoir

Camellia_Villa_Hills_icon_B

Views, views, views! Perched on the side of an elongated valley overlooking the mirror still
Castlereagh Reservoir, Camellia Hills is an enchanting five-bedroom bungalow. Its location
feels remote and escapist yet its picturesque surroundings are extremely accessible.
Surrounding the bungalow and much of the neighbouring hills are acres of neatly landscaped
tea bushes and ridges crowned by pine forests through which you can walk and explore. The
bungalow team have mapped out other experiences including boat trips on the reservoir,
picnics at scenic viewpoints, visits to tea factories and colourful Hindu kovils, and wild swims
in hidden waterfalls.

The bungalow is a contemporary interpretation of a tea planter’s home and is filled with many
creature comforts. Nearly all the bedrooms have private terraces and glorious lake views. The
common areas – an open plan living and dining area – have a convivial feel and share in the
panoramic views. Sip afternoon tea or cocktails from the main balcony before moving inside
onto the sofas and warming up around the roaring log fire. At this elevation – 1,200-metres –
it can feel cool in the evenings. With an excellent team on hand to deliver fabulous meals,
drinks on demand and act as hosts on some of the well-researched experiences, your group
will be in good hands.

There are four double bedrooms and one twin, and in total the bungalow sleeps a maximum
of 12 adults (with two extra beds) and 2 children (utilising the trundle bed). One of the
bedrooms is arranged as a family suite and another sits separately in the garden, so the
bungalow suits a variety of groups from intimate gatherings and families to intergenerational
and special interest groups. There’s a view-facing swimming pool in the garden and an
amblama for absorbing the dramatic scene.
