Groups and families looking for an atmospheric Hill Country retreat will love five-bedroom Taylors Hill. Set amidst vertiginous upcountry terrain near Kandy, Taylor’s Hill is a two-storey granite century-old plantation house that sits in several acres of lush border-fringed lawns with pool, croquet, tennis and badminton. Bedrooms and living areas are boldly hued, oozing style and warm atmosphere. Indoor facilities include a snooker room and a kids’ play area.
The house is situated just seven kilometres from Loolecondera Estate – the birthplace of Ceylon Tea, and takes its name from James Taylor, the pioneer of commercial tea production in Ceylon. The house is fully staffed and the resident naturalist guides guests on flagship tours of Loolecondera Estate, visiting the oldest tea bushes in Ceylon and the estate’s tea factory. He also leads guests on foot or by bicycle along local trails through secluded villages and rural estates.
Rooms in the villa may be booked individually. Please see here for more details.
